If there is any real measure of awareness around a technology it is the
degree to which people are willing to actually implement it. If everyone is
happy with a hobby type of thing then fine, let's all just twiddle bits in
our basements and giggle to each other.
But that is not the case.
Google is advertising 234 positions in the USA with the codeword "Linux" in
the description. There are zero for Solaris. Google has made their
corporate policies and no one is going to move that ship in a new direction
unless you come up with the cure for cancer. Even then, that may not be
enough.
