Not necessarily. A Logo is what we have now in the form of the (a
little unimaginative) multicolored "OpenSolaris" graphic in a plain
Sans font.
Logos and Mascots can be separate things either used together or each
used separately (witness FreeBSD.org - they have a separate Logo and
the BSD Devil Mascot) or combined. Sometimes the Mascot also serves
as the Logo (for example, there's no real standard "Linux" logo, so
Tux pretty much serves as both Logo and Mascot pretty much everywhere
you look.)
