Purpose: To drive awareness and adoption of Open Solaris in Bhimavaram region in India.
List of Community Groups Sponsoring the project:
Advocacy Community Group
List of project team members:
G V Padmaraju (OS id: gvpraju), primary contact
Raju Alluri (OS id: sspurthi)
Project Description: The purpose of this project is to drive Open Solaris awareness amongst student and professional community in this area. The professional community is a minority in this region, so the target audience will mostly be students. We want to increase OpenSolaris adoption in labs and student projects. We also plan to contribute documentation and small code changes back to the community. We want to take help of the college alumni in the industry to guide us in these efforts.
The project also archives its contributions like student projects, presentations and other material to the project space on OpenSolaris site.
Project Needs: This project requires project space on OpenSolaris.org site. The roject also requires a mailing list. Suggested name is ug-bvrmosug at opensolaris dot org.
Related Projects: We would like to closely watch the successful user groups and see if we need to work with them to do related activities.
Related past activities: We have a few workshops in this region in the last 3 years, where at least one of the expert talks or hands-on session is based on Solaris/OpenSolaris technologies. These workshops are attended by students in this region, to the tune of 200 attendees per event.
