I believe that most developers and sysadmins around the world, that use
Unix, understand English pretty well, since most documentation is
English. No other is in Poland. While we speak rather bad, since our use
of language is passive, we understand quite much, in my opinion.
Also most people here in schools learn English with German being close
second.
