[advocacy-discuss] Merger and Migration Status and Final Deadline

hey ...

I've updated the UG leaders grid. It's all green, but it's certainly not
all complete. It was getting confusing with each group being in a
different state of opening or migrating or finding new leaders, and I've
been doing a lot of mailing back and forth with various groups. So I
thought that if a group has a project and/or a list that is open and the
group is functioning in any visible way than I think it should be
considered an "open" UG. Sound reasonable?

I also added a "status" column to the grid that hopefully accurately
describes the state of each group. If not, let me know. Now, activity is
another matter, but I can't control that. :) Here's the updated grid:

I also updated the UG project proposal process to make it easier to
understand: http://opensolaris.org/os/community/advocacy/usergroups/
Let me know if it's not clear.

Issues:

There are a hand full of groups that have not opened their projects yet,
and I'm no longer pinging them to move. After a few emails of no
response I have to move on and assume they are not interested in opening
their project.

But more importantly, there are still a few groups who have not moved
their content from their old UG Community pages to their new projects. I
need to close that community to complete the merger. Both the Marketing
and Immigrants communities are closed and merged into Advocacy, and the
UG community needs to close as per the consolidation we agreed to and
the OGB specified.

*Final Deadline Proposal*

Three months should be enough time to move what amounts to just a few
pages for most groups, so I'd like to suggest that we make next Friday
Oct 5 the final deadline to close the old UG community and complete this
merger. If any user group has content there at that time, it will be
deleted. If a user group doesn't want to then open a project, that's
fine, but the old UG community is going away and that means what's left
of the old UG pages will go away as well. I have pinged many groups a
half dozen times on this, so I have to move on now. Sound reasonable?
