I was wondering if anyone has looked at using a Phoenix motif for a mascot and icon for OpenSolaris using the stylized Sun flames that hark back to the Medieval tapestries. This shows a rebirth of solaris and the strength of the technology beneath it.

I have not been that impressed by the designs that have been shown so far, I agree they look abit amateurish - OpenSolaris needs to be a strong motif which is easy to render and something that people 'get' immediately when they see it. I cant see how "bubbles has any relevance to Solaris" ;-)

We need some good artists to contribute quality draft designs.

I think Sun should host a site where designs / ideas can be uploaded and voted on by the OpenSolaris community?  Lets get all the ideas and designs into one place.
