hey ... Although we still have some bits to figure out regarding
governance and simplification, at least there is clear consensus for
making the OpenSolaris User Groups their own collective group on the
site. This is very good news. This means that the OSUGs will have top
level exposure right along with Projects and Communities and any other
meta groups we specify. Many of us have been wanting this for a long
time. The new opensolaris.org infrastructure coming along will easily
allow it, and now we hope to adjust the governance to enable it as well.
Still work to do, but we are getting close ...

At the community's request, the OGB has been discussing various
governance simplification proposals. Here is the latest draft
http://www.genunix.org/wiki/index.php/OGB_2008/010. We will be reviewing
and voting on the Group and Roles proposals, so the infrastructure
engineering team can move ahead with the new webapp implementation.
Additional community reorganization issues will be considered as needed.
Conversations are taking place in multiple threads on ogb-discuss and
also at OGB meetings.
