*Proposal for Cleveland OpenSolaris User Group (CLE-OSUG)*

*Purpose: *
To drive awareness and adoption of OpenSolaris in Northern Ohio.

*List of Community Groups Sponsoring the project: *
Advocacy Community Group

*List of project team members:*
Scott Seighman (OS ID: seighman), Primary Contact
Alexandru Boruz, (Campus Ambassador, CWRU)

*Project Description: *
The purpose of this project is to drive OpenSolaris awareness amongst
student and professional communities in the region. We want to increase
OpenSolaris adoption in small businesses, large enterprise and local
universities. The project will also share its contributions to the
project space on the OpenSolaris site.

*Project Needs: *
This project requires project space on OpenSolaris.org site. The project
also requires a mailing list, suggested list name is
ug-cleosug at opensolaris.org

*Related Projects: *
We will replicate the success of existing OSUG and local users groups
(like the Cleveland Java Users Group), plus work with other regional
groups to identify opportunities for collaborative OpenSolaris promotion
in the region.

*Related Past Activities: *
We have been active in many regional technical events and participate in
several user groups and advisory committees in the region including the
Cleveland Java Users Group, Cuyahoga Community College Technical
Committee, Lorain County Technical Advisory Committee and Northeast Ohio
Software Association. We plan to leverage a recently added Campus
Ambassador at Case Western Reserve University to build awareness and
adoption at the university level.

*Proposed Activities:*
Proposed activities will include monthly group meetings and awareness
events focusing on the advantages of OpenSolaris. The initial phase of
growth and awareness will focus on building membership and support from
the university and business communities. Phase two will focus on
activities and events to further promote OpenSolaris in the region. The
over-arching premise is to build technical competency of OpenSolaris and
increase adoption in the region.

Respectfully submitted,
Scott Seighman
