Thanks for this proposal, Alex. +1 from me.

> Proposal for Adelaide OpenSolaris User Group Project
> (ADL-AUOSUG)

That name may be a bit long when it is expressed as a Mailman list. :) I'll have to put "ug-" in front of it as you cite below. Fine by me, though.

> Purpose: To drive awareness and adoption of
> OpenSolaris in Adelaide, Australia.
>
> List of Community Groups Sponsoring the project:
> Advocacy Community Group
> roject team members:
> Alex Sims (OS id: softgrow), primary contact
> Derek Munneke (OS id: nextfaze)
>
> Project Description: The purpose of this project is
> to drive OpenSolaris awareness and adoption amongst
> the enthusiast and industry community in Adelaide,
> Australia.
>
> The target audience is initially UNIX enthusiasts who
> use UNIX at home or work. We perceive that a
> significant number of UNIX enthusiasts in the area
> will be interested in meeting and exchanging ideas
> about OpenSolaris and related technologies. We want
> to contribute documentation and small code changes
> back to the community. Once established we could
> broaden scope to include students and would encourage
> adoption of OpenSolaris in student projects.
>
> The project will archive its contributions,
> presentations, and other material to the project
> space on the OpenSolaris site.
>
> Project Needs: This project requires project space on
> OpenSolaris.org
> site. The project also requires a mailing list.
> Suggested list name is ug-adl-auosug at
> opensolaris.org.
>
> Proposed activities:
> Since this would be first OSUG in our area, we will
> send an invitation mail to everyone interested in
> OpenSolaris to join us. Activities that could then
> follow include technical meetings and installfests.
