[advocacy-discuss] [news-discuss] Opensolaris.org "News" WTF??

This thought is probably too impractical b/c it would require too much effort. But it is a thought nevertheless.

Sometimes I hope this "News" spot is the place that I will be able to find OpenSolaris-related info first-hand.

For example, Intel officially announced the release of Centrino 2 today. I am sure someone @ Sun must have been working on its compatibility. Anticipating Centrino 2's release, perhaps someone who knows what's going on (inside Sun) could have arranged to have a blog written specifically for that purpose, which can then be released synchronously with Intel's announcement. It's a pity that we are totally in the dark. :-(

As another Example, Mike Dillon is doing an excellent job of reporting the Sun-NetApp ZFS litigation. I was surprised that his blog was not picked up by Slashdot. This is an important issue (especially in terms of wanting the general public to submit patent-invalidating prior art), but we just forgot about it. It is much easier to herd the general public to follow our own (improved) version of Slashdot, which would have picked up Mike's blog, than the hundreds of Sun blogs.
