Hi All -
Here is some very cool info from Sun's Student Review Program. It is an
awesome program where they conduct promotions/contests to students WW.
Check out the update below on OpenSolaris.
Thanks
Terri
Hi All,
Here is an update from my end on this one...
As you know, last month we launched Student Reviews Program aimed at
promoting hands-on experience of Sun offerings for students around the
world. Students can post their reviews to give feedback to Sun, discuss
cutting-edge technologies, get connected with Sun experts, as well as
participate in student contests to win cool prizes.
The program started with a OpenSolaris 2008.5 and NetBeans 6.1 product
reviews contest. 48 students from 14 different countries -- Australia,
Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Colombia, Ecuador, India, Moldova, Pakistan,
Romania, Sri Lanka, Sweden, USA and Vietnam -- have submitted 78
technical reviews during the contest period.
Many students tried OpenSolaris for this first time due to the contest.
One participant commented, "... thanks a lot for suggesting me to
explore Opensolaris. I would have never used it myself. And now I have
learned so many new things because of that. I promise to keep exploring
it more."
The program details can be found at http://www.sun.com/student_reviews.
We would be publishing all the submitted entries via this blog
<http://blogs.sun.com/students> during the next two weeks, and the
winners will be announced on June 25.
Key stats at a glance:
i. Students participated: 48 (Non-Sun-affiliated Students: 30, Sun
Campus Ambassadors: 18)
ii. Countries represented: 14
iii. Total reviews submitted: 78 (OpenSolaris reviews: 40, NetBeans
reviews: 38)
