One counter argument to that is that it isn't currently original. Sun has used a 
similar brand (for whatever reason) to OpenSolaris for OpenJDK, OpenSPARC and 
others -

(FWIW, I think OpenSPARC do it the best - even their favicon is very, very 
similar to OpenSolaris)

Agree to some extents - though you could look at the impact that Mozilla had 
with re-branding to Firefox.
