hey ... I'm not sure a project would necessarily speed things up, to be 
honest, but perhaps it would call attention to the issue and help 
encourage new volunteers. We surely need some people dedicated to 
digging in and actively managing an events program so Advocacy is the 
place to go to find all the events around the world for OpenSolaris. 
That would involve not only hunting around for various events and 
posting content and calls for papers/participation to the site, but more 
importantly it would involve establishing relationships with the 
sponsoring organizations so they know to involve us, and also perhaps 
managing speakers placements, etc. At the very least, we should all know 
what's going on, when the deadlines are to submit stuff, and where 
events are so we can gather there either formally or informally.
