I saw "Sun Microsystems" on the roaster, but not "OpenSolaris", so we
should play the Sun angle as well. If we could get an Ultra 40 with the
biggest screen you can get (24"+, Sun branded) that would be good; you
can take the side off revieling the innards which makes geeks smile and
invokes the old Sun "koool" factor. We'll suppliment that with Mac's
running Indiana (VMware or VirtualBox).
I can put together one or two snazzy demos... the people at "Linux-y"
events like this tend to be more chatty and general that more corperate
events, so you want short powerful demos such as:
* Creating a RAIDZ2 Zpool with 1 command, and then showing that its
mounted automatically; then follow up by showing properties such as
compression, quota, etc.
* DTrace is hard to demo quickly but people love seeing flashy power
like using Brenden Gregg's "shellsnoop" to watch input/output to all
shells on the box.. invokes a "woah!" sort of "Ya, DTrace does see
all..." reaction.
* The old SMF "kill -9, oh look it restarted!".
But honestly, 95% of people will be more interested in just talking with
the OS as a backdrop.
