Hi Laurent,
Consider - if you will - os200805 to be a grand experiment - on a
scale costing 10 of millions of dollars (I don't know the numbers).
Now consider os200805 to be a rev 1.0 release - which probably won't
demonstrate its full potential until the next release - 6 months from
now.
os200805s' success will be based on its own merits. However there is
plenty of opportunity for os200805 technology to "trickle down" to
other software systems - regardless of how well it is received by the
user community.
Remember that the price we pay for progress is disruption. Some may
find this disruption unsettling - others will take it in stride.
Never the less - there is disruption and the user community will have
to deal with it.
Congrats to those developers who participated in the "grand
experiment". Many have put enormous effort into os200805 and made
serious personal sacrifices to make it happen. Regardless of the
degree of success that os200805 will enjoy, anyone who putback code
into it has a lot to be proud of. My hat is off to you all.
Regards,
