I know what it is: the FAQ says it is a «community-developed binary
distribution of an operating system based on the OpenSolaris source code».

Whatever that means.

Oh, I wish Sun had managed, *at least*, to be consistent. But even on
the announcements and pages on sun.com, the information is vague,
misleading, inaccurate.

Something, at least, is now clear: OpenSolaris is not targeted at
Solaris users, but at Linux ones. I'll pass on the opportunity to target
another niche market rather than a reasonably sized one, like MacOS or
Windows.

But then again, I'm feeling rather left out. I'm a Solaris user. I don't
want to become a Linux user. Or if I want, I'll use Linux. So now, I'm
honestly starting to wonder what's the point of my being here. I wanted
to make Solaris a better Solaris. Not to make Solaris a Linux lookalike.
