I used to build foundations. The analogy worked perfectly for me. In 
fact, I have seen buildings sink and break apart due to lousy 
foundations, and when we ripped them out we`d usually find bad concrete 
or an obvious lack of steal reinforcing or the magically missing 
footing. Thus, everything on top eventually sinks or crumbles. I have 
also seen 100 ton cranes fall right over due to improper bracing on 
temporary foundations.

And your off-the-cuff delivery is really quite good. Not goofy at all. I 
would say you are a natural at this sort of thing.  :)

I have one suggestion (and this is completely personal). The only thing 
I would change in the scene is to make the background totally black. No 
highlights at all. The curtain with highlights in the background does 
not work at all. Go black. Just you and the white board. Charlie Rose 
uses this style, and it is very effective
