[advocacy-discuss] Community conferences and advocacy community

Hi

My recent struggles to organize a Polish OS conference had me thinking.
Exactly year ago I had a promise from my current employer to cover all
expenses of this conference. They have failed to fulfill the promise, as
few other companies. To cut long story short, right now I paid for
conference room from my own earnings, which ate everything from my
private bank account, and wonderful people from community agreed to
refund me those money. With wonderful Sun Czech being a prime example,
agreeing to cover full conference room fee (thanks for that go to Roman
Strobl).
Other thing was a struggle to set up a conference website with
registration interface and all.
And then it hit me. Would it be difficult if User Groups were able to
host their conferences at opensolaris.org? Would it be very difficult to
implement a simple registration mechanism? Our benefit may be some
automagical way of throwing the info at advocacy main page. Also, would
it be possible to create an information nexus, where people looking for
sponsors would be able to contact people able to sponsor such events?
I, for once, volunteer to make my conference organizing skills and all
contacts I have gathered for that reason available to anyone willing to
organize their own event.

	Any thoughts?

Regards
