Hi All -
Join Software Freedom Day! This event is taking place Saturday,
September 20, 2008.
Software Freedom Day is a global celebration and education of why
transparent and sustainable technologies are now more important than
ever. With over 200 teams in 60 countries participating, it is a
fantastic event to get your schools and communities involved in. Go
along to your local event or start your own event and meet a wide range
of people, all working together to help ensure our freedoms are
maintained by the technologies of tomorrow.
Sun has a HUGE presence in Software Freedom Days! Wanted to give an
update on how involved OpenSolaris is here! Sun Campus Ambassadors are
doing amazing events all over the world for OpenSolaris.
We have over 220 university campuses holding celebrations and
installfests!(this was as of this morning) And this number continues to
grow Majority (~95%) of them are OpenSolaris !
A couple of stats:
* In India alone they are doing more than 80 events!! The
celebrations started there on September 13th and Abhishek Kumar, a
Campus Ambassador has addressed on 3 different venues with more
than 500 students in attendance!
* China is holding 40 events - John Jiang is presenting in China
There are so many awesome events taking place - You can check out the
Software Freedom Day site for even more information -
