To all members of OpenSolaris projects
 
We started Project Jaris on October 2008 as an OpenSolaris project.
 
Our objective is  "To provide a product suitable for Japanese users (who would rather a windows-like-environment compared to users in other countries) "
 
Major Features 
 

    * Well known Windows applications can run on this System
    * Automatic settings are linked with users' enviroment.
    * Print-ready using linux native drivers for Canon and Epson printers (printing is only a few clicks away after connecting  printer to PC)
    * Speedy development of programs and device drivers.
    * Available on Mobile scene (also available on Netbook)
    * Bundled major freeware and installation programs.
       

Release information
Oct 2008     Jaris b98 basic version released
Feb 2009     Jaris b98 complete version for limited release
Mar 2009     Jaris b101c basic version released

OpenSolarisプロジェクトの皆様へ

■2008年10月OpenSolarisのDistributionとしてProject Jarisを発足しました。

目的は、「日本独特の環境に合ったようなものを提供する」です。


以下主な特徴を記載します。

　・設定は環境に応じて自動設定をおこなう

　・よく使用されている日本語版Windowsソフトウェアが動作する

　・Linux用キャノン、EPSONのネイティブドライバを使用して印刷する

　　設定はプリンタを接続するとウェブでマウスを数回クリックするだけで後は自動設定。

　・デバイスドライバ等のいち早い開発・搭載

　・モバイル環境（Netbook等）への対応

　・各種フリーウェアの搭載、インストール支援ツールの搭載
