I'm more interested in finding a way to hook up user-contributed "unbundled"
software in an easy to use way, than I am in finding another way to build and
distribute the kernel and core drivers.  Perhaps one approach is to give the
distro a "test run" as a layer on top of Sun's Solaris.  This approach also seems
like a good way to get the blastwave community (et al) hooked in as soon as possible.
