[arc-discuss] Seeking early guidance for integrating a new package system into O/N.

Currently we are have reached a point where we have Conary packaging system
running on Solaris (both Sparc and x86). Based on our work with Conary to
date we feel it would be a great addition to the OpenSolaris project, and we
are working on the formal results of the evaluation.

Based on our findings at this point, we feel that it will be prudent to move
forward with a project to integrate Conary into Nevada as an official
packaging system. (To replace or augment the current System V packaging
today).

We seek guidance as to the proper course of action. (What criteria is the
ARC looking for?)

P.S. - I am raising this now, prior to the final release of our evaluation,
so that we can make sure we include all relevant info in the evaluation.
