In my opinion, yes, because I see the "almost as many packaging systems,
as major [Linux] distributions" as a key part of the Linux Distro Hell
that I, for one, wish to avoid.  Gratuitous incompatibility, as one person
puts it.  Being different because one can.  In my mind, a complete and
total waste of both developer's and customer's time.

On the other hand, one of the things he might be giving up could be
the privilege to use the OpenSolaris brand on his distro....
