Where before you've logged in?  (openboot or with OS running; text or graphical,
etc)

Are you the only user of the system or of a terminal on a dedicated serial line?  If so, text
logins can be fixed to use particular erase/kill characters either with
/kernel/drv/options.conf or with ttydefs(4), possibly with some further
adjustments involving pmadm and ttyadm.
