I should also note that I tried moving the DVD ISO to a separate directory
and passing that to -d, but had no luck.
A final note is that at the end of (successful) install, I saw:

Punctuation is IMHO being overly used, and used inconsistently.
It seems weird that "Setting up... " and "System configuration..." are
repeated twice. And I don't think the ! is warranted.
I would suggest the following (most of this is borrowed for consistency from
the native zone installer):
> Preparing to install zone <myzone> (brand lx).
> Installing files from archive /home/dp/Desktop/centos_fs_image.tar.bz2.
> Extracting files (may take several minutes)... Done.
> Setting up the initial lx brand environment.
> Zone <myzone> is initialized.
> The file </aux0/lx/root/var/log/lx.install.505506.log> contains a log of the zone installation.
Anyway, this zone booted and worked without incident. It's neat and the
virtualization is convincing. Well done.
