I tried to install RedHat ES 3 update 8 and it failed all three times, I tried with mounting a ISO , the -d to the dir of the ISO and with the cd1 mounted in the /cdrom., see below!
# zonecfg -z lxzone export
create -b
set zonepath=/zones/lxzone
set brand=lx
set autoboot=false
add net
set address=192.168.0.21
set physical=rtls0
end

# ls /export/install/
rhel-3-u8-i386-es-disc1.iso  rhel-3-u8-i386-es-disc2.iso
# zoneadm -z lxzone install -d /export/install server
