We picked ifspeed based on:

I don't have a preference for speed/ifspeed myself- if there's a
strong consensus for changing ifpseed -> speed, we can do this post
putback..

I like default_mtu myself, as a user is likely to quickly understand
that this is the same thing as the driver.conf version.. again, I suppose
we could lose the "default_" prefix based on user-feedback..
