Maybe you are already on this...from David Comay...

"1633 was actually the fix that "reintroduced" the bug you've documented
(the inability to deal automatically is there's an existing ZFS pool
called "rpool".)  There needs to be a *new* bug filed and then use that
bug # instead of 1633 here.  Could someone from the Install team do
that, please?"

Let me know the new bug number replacing #1633 and I'll update RN.
