Thanks for the help! I finally got it to work, but not as I expected.

- I had to follow these instructions exactly:
http://blogs.sun.com/timthomas/entry/solaris_cifs_in_workgroup_mode

- I had understand that 'zpool' is a command. 'tank', 'ztank', and 'rpool' are used interchangeably as examples throughout solaris docs. In fact 'ztank' seems to be the favorite though current builds of OpenSolaris Nevada/Indiana both use 'rpool' in practice.

- Creating shares using the "Administration | Shared Folders" GUI does 'nothing' as far as I can tell. Only shares created using the command-line worked.

- Other Solaris or Windows machines must explicitly mount/map the shared drive.
No other computers can 'browse' the solaris CIFS shares. Usually the solaris machine is not listed in the workgroup or under 'entire network' - it will randomly pop-up,but appear empty.

So I got it working. I don't mind the command-line, or documentation. I don't understand why the GUI shortcuts did not function as I expected (and still don't). As a new-comer to Solaris, this was a bit of a rough ride.

I already reinstalled a different build on Sparta so I can't get the gendiag, but Athena the SXCE b.94 is still here, sharing data and will stay for a little while. If there is anything I can provide you to help improve this please let me know!
