Hi Natalie,

I'm absolutely not familiar with either windows or AD, but I've got a regular user on our terminalserver, which is named esm. then I've got an adminuser (for this case) named
  esm.adm

I can log in on the terminaluser with this one, and see that I'm a member of :
domain admins
domain users
enterprise admins
exchange organisazion admins
group policy creator owners
remote desktop users
schema admins

so - I guess '.' is a legal character.

I've tried with disable'ing ntp - no luck

"other" :  :-)
No, my solaris-box is named 'poc'
root at poc [~]# hostname
poc

I only meant that I'm a bit confused on how DNS should answer.

My machine 'poc' is in the DNS-domain 'mydomain.xxx'
so that it resolves to correct IP and the name 'poc.mydomain.xxx'
That make sense....
But then I notice, that other computers in the environment also resolves as
'<other_name>.mad.mydomain.xxx'

And I wonder - is that a result of the AD-registration?

TRACE: How can I deliver you a snoopfile of the network-traffic?
If you send me an email on ' esm at mnemonic dot no' I can put it
on a temporary ftp-server for you.

thanks!
