I would like to submit a request for code review of an upgrade of the
global program in the Companion CD project.

The code reviewer for this upgrade is not yet determined.

This is a change from global 4.8 to 5.1. It builds cleanly on SPARC
and x86 for Nevada build 43 both in individual builds of global and in
nightly builds. The packages install properly as well.

The standard "make check" tests work with no errors and hand tests of all
of the gtags and global functions appear to work normally. There are
no major changes to global except some function name changes and so
there will be low impact on any programs that use global.

The webrev information can be found at

 http://companion.sunfreeware.com/downloads/globalwebrev/

 The globalsrc.tar.bz2, globalpkg.tar.bz2, and globalpkgS.tar.bz2
 files in http://companion.sunfreeware.com/downloads/ contain the
actual files for the usr/src/cmd/global, usr/src/pkgdefs/SFWglob,
 and usr/src/pkgdefs/SFWglobS directories, respectively.

The METADATA file for global is

 Name: GNU global
 URL: http://www.gnu.org/software/global/
 Package Names: SFWglob, SFWglobS
 Version: 5.1
 License: GPL2

 Comment:

The only change I have not made that we might want to consider is
changing SFWglob to SFWglobal and SFWglobS to SFWglobalS for
the package directories. If this is approved, I will add
that change to the appropriate places and in the METADATA file.
