is that to make it look in it's own directory first, rather than picking
up the old header from /opt/sfw/include? If so, maybe the Makefile could
just add '-I.' to CFLAGS first? From a quick test that works for me.

This says the license is GPL2 - but it appears to be a gd-specific
license to me.

And as it has a few more copyrights in it I'd think the SFWgd package
copyright needs updating as well?
