From Jim.Grisanzio at Sun.COM Thu Apr 26 00:14:07 2007 From: Jim.Grisanzio at Sun.COM (Jim Grisanzio) Date: Thu, 26 Apr 2007 16:14:07 +0900 Subject: [content-discuss] Status of the Content Project Message-ID: <4630513F.3070108@Sun.COM> Hi ... As you know, the OGB started a discussion to re-organize the OpenSolaris Community, and the Content Project is mentioned in the proposal: http://mail.opensolaris.org/pipermail/ogb-discuss/2007-April/000289.html I suggested to the OGB in the thread that I question the Content Project's viability at this point since it has not been active for about a year. If the Documentation Community or any other community wants to take ownership of it and re-cast it into something else, that would be fine with me. Otherwise, I suggest we end of life the Content Project: http://mail.opensolaris.org/pipermail/ogb-discuss/2007-April/000371.html I'll be migrating the Newsletter out of the Content Project space (it was always a temporary storage area for the newsletter), and I've suggested that the Articles content (which pre-dated the Content Project) become part of the forthcoming Advocates Community. I don't feel strongly about actually migrating the Articles, though, since there was always such little interest in them. But for a general community like Advocates, though, they may fit well. At the very least, I'll link to them from the new community. Also, they can stay where they are and multiple groups could potentially contribute to them. The Newsletter, however, will be migrated for sure. If there is anyone on this list who feels strongly that the Content Project should live on, that's certainly fine. You are more than welcome to assert your feelings here and propose a new leadership model for it. If there are no takers within a few weeks or so, I'll formally request to the OGB that we delete the Content Project after the Newsletter is migrated out. In my opinion blogs seem to do a good job of what we intended the articles to be.
