We've certainly debated in the past how much "branding" there should be
on the OpenSolaris desktop, compared to the Solaris desktop.  I'm not
sure we've really found a happy medium yet... personally I somewhat
agree with you, that the Solaris desktop should have most of the
branding.  But our release engineers probably have enough problems
coping with the differences between the two versions as it is :)

There are certainly plans to include more developer tools on the
OpenSolaris desktop... I don't know specifics, but I'd be surprised if
NetBeans wasn't among them (especially as we'd already started bundling
NetBeans with JDS Linux... although I forget now if that was only with
JDSr3 Linux, which never saw the light of day...)
