I don't think we don't really expect rhythmbox (or sound-juicer) to work
properly until HAL is integrated into nevada, which we're hoping will be
build 46. Until then, weird things will probably happen.

Don't know exactly what sort of thing you're looking for, but you could
start with the "Improving Performance" chapter in the JDS 3 Admin
guide-- most of this should still apply to Nevada:
