Yes, Sun you go to http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/coll/45.20 there is a writing device drivers guide. Also there is more information on http://developers.sun.com

You might also want to try searching http://blogs.sun.com and google for the "add_drv" command. "add_drv" and "update_drv" are probably the commands you may need to use.
