Hey,

We got approval from ARC today for inclusion of GNOME 2.16 into Nevada. I've put
up the case materials here -

http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/arc/caselog/2006/462/functional_spec/

for anyone who wants a read. There are some additional materials referenced in
that document which aren't as interesting - however, if you'd like to see them,
please let me know.

The current plan is for integration around build 50, but that's just an
approximate date of when that might happen - there's heaps more work to do, and
we still need a final 2.16 set of packages from GNOME.

FWIW, still no concrete discussion about putting a newer version of the desktop
into an update. It was discussed briefly at ARC, and some of the underlying
issues that we would need to address would be HAL backported - something which
may not be feasible.

Hopefully though, we can now focus on making the desktop a better place and get
some of the outstanding issues and bugs addressed - first things first, who's
had a chance to try out the beta SVN repository?

Glynn
