I think this is useful. There is a class of user who carry their
laptops back and forth, and use an external monitor at their primary
workstation. The ideal resolution at a worksite with the monitor is
likely to be quite different than the ideal resolution when roaming.
(Almost everyone hates panning.)
Admittedly, desktop users are unlikely to find it useful. But laptop
users are much more inclined to use it.
