Hi,
That's using the old GNOME 2.0 file locations. All the file icons for
OpenOffice/Staroffice should be available in /usr/share/icons under the
appropriate icon theme. If they are not there for a particular there, there
should be some fallbacks according to the 'Inherits' line in the index.theme file.
You should at least make sure that there are index.theme and icon-theme.cache
files for your given theme.
For me, I have for example -
/usr/share/icons/gnome/24x24/mimetypes
complete with a bunch of gnome-mime-application-vnd.* icons which correspond to
the appropriate MIME type definitions in /usr/share/mime/packages/. Are the
right MIME associations working? 'gnome-open [filename]' will tell you - you
might have to manually update the caches with 'update-mime-database' as root?
