please send or post /var/log/Xorg.0.log
Also, try kdmconfig, choose Xsun, and choose different Intel drivers.

Booting in to failsafe I mount it to the default /a then xorgconfig has no idea were a lot of libs /usr and other stuff it needs to work.  Can you mount in failsafe as the dir / ?  Virtual Console would be great at this point!
