It turns out

svc:/application/graphical-login/cde-login:default

was the login program that was making the bluish green login screen.

I was able to disable that with:

/usr/sbin/svcadm disable svc:/application/graphical-login/cde-login:default

and then enable gdm via:

/usr/sbin/svcadm enable svc:/application/gdm2-login:default

So I'll need to do that in my jumpstart install.
