[desktop-discuss] (was: WINE) Installing cbe <-- Studio12 <--NetBeans 6

In trying to install cbe (prerequisite for installing WINE), I thought I had successfully installed Studio 12 (as shown following the /usr/bin/version command), but I saw no "sunstudio" directory in /opt/SUNWspro, and a listing of /usr/bin/sunstudio shows that the link is broken.   Thus, when I was prompted to enter the path for the C compiler, I don't have the answer. & the install stalled.

In installing Studio 12, I saw a message which said that "step required: netbeans".  I didn't know how to do with it, but continued the installation.  (I had NB6 running.)  Does Studio 12 not work with NB6?  What else could have I done wrong?  Thanks.
