AMD X2 64 3800+.

None at all that I can see.

I've started Thunderbird from the command line so I could capture stderr 
and nothing appears.

> How is the filter created?

I create the filters by going to:

  Tools
   Message Filters
    New

Setup a filter, eg. if subject has [desktop-discuss] then move to folder 
  Discuss.

I'm on about 30-40 mailing lists and I know the filters used to work 
(trust me, if you suddenly got 300-400 non-spam messages in your Inbox 
without expecting it you'd notice it right away :P).
