I have been testing GNOME 2.16.2 on S10 x86 without removinf any JDS files
and have not significant problems.

I don't think it should be necessary to tell a user/sysadmin to remove vendor
supplied software in order to get something to work.

also .. on a side note .. I'll be updating your opteron box ( phobos ) to
snv_55b soonish.  I have been real busy doing productive things regardless
of what some people think.
