This is certainly do-able. Though it may need to depart a little from 
code for the other OS's :)
Also there are plenty of other stats in kstat that maybe very useful to 
chart. i.e. arc cache stats for ZFS. What I would rather do than make it 
Xfce specific is to build it just using GTK so it would work on both 
Gnome and Xfce.
