There's more to it than black windows, though: I tried at home on an 
Geforce FX5700 with 256 MB RAM with a 1600x1200 desktop.
More memory, so I could start more gnome-term windows, maybe 30. Then a 
first black window appeared, and on the next try, X crashed.
