It wasn't actually as bad I remembered, but I prefer to have changes that can
be easily merged upstream.
Checks for missing functions should be used instead of #fdef SOLARIS so that
other platforms can benefit.
My understanding is that they're still investigating making parts of Compiz
Fusion MIT licenced like the core, so support code from GPL libraries should be
avoided.
