I looked on the sites for audacity and jokosher and I don't see it playing in the same space as Ardour. Ardour can manipulate control surfaces like Nuendo and Pro-Tools, which I couldn't find mention of in the other projects. If Ardour can use the external sound I/O in devices like the Tascam mixers then I think it can become a winner.
So the real question is whether OSS will have the hooks to do the same. If so, then I agree with you that OSS should replace the older JACK and ALSA protocols.
