IM daemons automatically starts in UTF-8 locales to support
multiple languages input. To avoid activating input method,
do either of the followings:
1. Change IM trigger hotkey from default Ctrl+space to something
else that you don't usually type in or remove all entries.
(Trigger Keys tab in iiim-propeties)
2. Disable IM (deselect "[] Enable Input Method" in General tab)
In this case, you need to change Input Method from IIIMF to
"X Input Method" from GTK context menu if you need to use
Compose key on GTK applications.
3. Stop IM daemons.
Comment out the following lines from
/usr/openwin/lib/locale/common/imsscript/S505multi.
# GTK_IM_MODULE=iiim
# export GTK_IM_MODULE
# /usr/bin/iiimx -iiimd
Thanks,
Fuyuki

I can't imagine a need to have Latin mode enabled, especially not on a regular basis where I would need a hotkey. Would it be possible to have the hotkey disabled by default? I've been working around it with the magic keystrokes to disable it, knowing about Latin mode from a previous incident, but it would be really nice to not have to deal with it.
