[desktop-discuss] Gnopernicus - FreeTTS only english voice ?

Hi ,

   You all should  hear  the " Kevin"  voice of FreeTTS  trying to speak Swedish. 
 Its  hillarious and  quiet incomprehensible .  
You can compare the effect with  hearing 
a non-native-english  speaker, speaking english with an extreme foreign accent. 
The problem is of course that even though the LATIN  alpahbet is common in the
 western world, the  letters  are pronounced  differently in different languages. 

  What is involved in making FreeTTS  voices ? 
  Are they sampled  from real  speech  in the same manner as is done to make 
  a music synthesiser  sound like a violin or a trombone ? 

  To deploy Solaris Desktops in education with  vision impared students 
 a localized  voice that speaks  recognizable  swedish  will  be needed.

 I need  some advice  on  how to progress   this  issue !
